Why File Prep Matters on Rush Orders

On a standard order, a file issue costs you a day. On a rush order, it can cost you the event. Every file problem — wrong resolution, missing bleed, RGB instead of CMYK — triggers a reproof cycle that eats into your tight timeline.

The single most important thing you can do for a rush order is submit a clean, print-ready file. Follow the specs below and your flyers go straight to the press with zero delays. Our prepress team reviews every file, but a clean submission means instant approval.

Accepted File Formats

PDF is the fastest format to process and the least likely to cause issues. Use PDF/X-1a if your software supports it. We also accept AI, EPS, PSD, TIFF, and high-resolution JPG or PNG.

For rush orders, we strongly recommend PDF over all other formats. Illustrator and Photoshop native files can contain linked images, layer effects, and font dependencies that may need troubleshooting. A properly exported PDF eliminates all of those variables.

Do not submit Word, PowerPoint, Canva screenshots, or low-resolution exports. These cause delays that rush orders cannot afford.

Resolution: 300 DPI Mandatory

All images must be 300 DPI at the final print size. Club flyer designs typically feature dark backgrounds, neon effects, and photographic elements — all of which reveal low resolution immediately in print.

If your flyer includes DJ photos, venue images, or event photography, use the original high-resolution files. Images downloaded from Instagram, Facebook, or websites are too low resolution for quality printing. This is the number one cause of rush order reprints.

Bleed and Safety

Include 0.125-inch bleed on all four sides. Club flyers almost always have full-bleed designs — dark backgrounds, gradient effects, and edge-to-edge graphics — making bleed essential.

Keep text and logos at least 0.125 inches inside the trim line. Event details — date, venue address, DJ name, ticket info — need to be safely within the safety zone. If critical information gets trimmed off, you lose the whole purpose of the flyer.

Color Mode: CMYK for Accurate Output

Design in CMYK, not RGB. This is especially important for club flyers. Nightlife designs often use bright neons, deep purples, and electric blues that look dramatically different between RGB screens and CMYK print. Designing in CMYK from the start lets you see realistic color before the flyer hits the press.

If your design uses gradients on dark backgrounds — common in nightlife designs — watch for banding. Add a small amount of noise (1-2%) to gradients to ensure smooth transitions in print. Rich black for solid dark areas should be C:60 M:40 Y:40 K:100 for deep, consistent coverage.

Fonts: Embed Everything

Embed all fonts or convert text to outlines. Club flyer designs often use decorative and display fonts that are not standard on production systems. If a font is missing, it gets substituted — and your flyer looks nothing like the design.

Converting to outlines is the safest option for rush orders. It turns every character into a vector shape that prints exactly as designed, regardless of what fonts are installed on our systems. One extra step in your save process. Zero font issues in production.

Rush Order File Checklist

Run through this before you hit upload. PDF format, preferably PDF/X-1a. CMYK color mode. All images 300 DPI at final print size. 0.125-inch bleed on all sides. Text and logos inside the safety zone. All fonts embedded or converted to outlines. Rich black is C:60 M:40 Y:40 K:100. No RGB images or effects. No linked external files.

Every box checked means your file goes straight to press. One missed item means a reproof email that costs you hours. On a 24-hour timeline, those hours matter.
